Six towns, 619 square miles, and 31,000 full time residents make up the alpine populace of Colorado’s Summit County. A place I’ve called home for close to a decade. My short tenure in these mountain towns has shown me a facet of the local community that is often overshadowed by the pursuit of seasonal recreation and transitory residency that are hallmarks of tourism-driven markets. I started to get to know the fabric of the community, and those locals who have chosen to not just to live here but to thrive here.
